I’m Getting Too Old For This S…

Last night was a reunion of sorts with a couple former colleagues. We went for dinner, a couple drinks, and then … the rest is a bit of a blur. I don’t remember taking a train but I do remember sitting in a familiar bar near the old office. A couple of Scottish guys. Looking for a taxi at some point. Like I said… A bit of a blur.

I woke up on a sidewalk, soaked from the rain, by a Japanese guy wondering what I was doing. I was wondering the same. At least I still had my glasses this time. Luckily I also had my handy, dandy GPS-enabled google phone to tell me where I was… and I was in the middle of nowhere.

A long, cold walk to the nearest train station and I was on my way home. The only bright side to the odious funk that was coming from my body was it guaranteed me lots of room on the train.

I finally crawled home around 7am, just in time to take the garbage out before passing out on the couch. Luckily, or not, Tamie and Layla were staying in Isehara with the in-laws. They came back around 1:30 in the afternoon, to find me curled up on the couch dying.

We eventually went out to get Tamie a lifesaving, jogging tracking, all-around awesome google phone of her own. I hope she doesn’t ever need to use it to save her own life, but I feel much more secure in knowing she’s got one now. We’ll get Layla one soon too… she’s already a year behind her peers in the cell-phone area.

At any rate, I’ve given up drinking. Nah, that’s a bit rash. I will, however, give up waking up in random neighbourhoods with no idea how I got there.
